Lady's Mantle has considerable reputation as herbal remedy and a long history of use. The herb is alterative, antirheumatic, astringent, diuretic, emmenagogue, febrifuge, sedative, styptic, tonic and vulnerary.
Lady's Mantle has traditionally been used externally as an treatment for cuts and wounds and internally in the treatment of diarrhoea. It is rich in tannin and so is an effective astringent and styptic, commonly used both internally and externally in the treatment of wounds including bruises and ruptures. It is 'of a very drying and binding character' as the old herbalists expressed it, and was formerly considered one of the best vulneraries
Lady' Mantle is also used for a number of women's ailments especially menstrual problems, chronic infection and discharges. It can be used for vaginal discharges, itching, cervicitis and urethritis. It is a progesteronic herb that controls menstrual bleeding and can be used as a treatment for excessive menstruation, intermenstrual bleeding, postpartum bleeding and menopausal flooding. Lady's mantle can be used to treat symptoms of progesterone deficiency such as PMS, painful menstruation, menopausal symptoms with bleeding and breast swelling and to heal lesions after pregnancy. Generally, Lady's Mantle is the herb of choice for haemmorhage and bleeding in general and taken internally as an infusion it is said to be excellent to stop all bleedings.
Lady's Mantle is also taken internally for lack of appetite, rheumatism, stomach ailments, diarrhoea, endometriosis and enteritis. It also tends to coagulate blood and is useful for internal bleeding and as a mouth rinse after having teeth pulled. Externally, Lady's Mantle makes a good douche for leucorrhoea, and a wash or poultice for wounds and as a mouth wash for mouth ulcers and gingivitis.
100ml 1:5 Alcohol Volume 25%. Take 10 - 15 drops 2 x daily.
