Full instructions on how to make your P&B shake and how to drink them are enclosed as well as useful background information, hints, tips and advice. This pack will last approx 2 weeks. For the best results, P&B shakes should be taken for a period of 4 weeks, so this pack is ideal to try or for those new to internal cleansing.

How do they work?

The Psyllium/Bentonite mixture helps the body to cleanse by absorbing and removing toxins, contaminants and impacted waste from the digestive system and colon.

Further information about Bentonite and Psyllium in general may be found below.

What is Bentonite?

Bentonite is a powdered sedimentary clay (also known as montmorillonite) which comes from ancient deposits of volcanic ash. It is one of the best intestinal detoxifying agents available and has been recognized as such for centuries by native peoples around the world.

The clays minerals are negatively charged whereas toxins are positively charged, hence the clays attraction works like a magnet, attracting and leaching toxins out of the body. When mixed with water, bentonite swells up (this is imperceptible to the naked eye) and becomes very porous like a sponge. The electrical and molecular components change and produce an electrical charge. The toxins are drawn into these spaces by electrical attraction and bound fast. Technically, the clay first absorbs toxins (heavy metals, free radicals, pesticides), attracting them to its extensive surface area and then it absorbs the toxins, taking them in like a sponge. Its highest power lies in the ability to absorb all present toxins, impurities, heavy metals and other internal contaminants. In fact, according to the Canadian Journal of Microbiology (31 [1985], 50-53), bentonite can absorb pathogenic viruses, aflatoxin (a mold), and pesticides and herbicides including Paraquat and Roundup. The clay is eventually eliminated from the body with the toxins bound to its multiple surfaces.

There is virtually no digestive disease that clay will not treat. It enriches and balances blood. It attracts and neutralizes poisons in the intestinal tract and absorbs radiation (cell phones, microwaves, x-rays, TVs and irradiated food). Bentonite can eliminate food allergies, food poisoning, mucus colitis, spastic colitis, viral infections, stomach flu, and parasites (parasites are unable to reproduce in the presence of clay).

What is Bentonite used for?

  • To assist in the removal of toxic substances in the digestive system
  • Bacterial food poisoning, organic and inorganic toxicity
  • To cleanse the colon and promote proper bacterial balance in the intestines
  • To begin the process of detoxification of the liver
  • To stimulate liver function
  • As a part of short term cleansing programs used to promote good health
  • Critical to support external healing clay treatment (pelotherapy)
  • Removal of heavy metals and recovery from chemical therapies and radiation
  • With special long term treatments, to increase T-cell count and fix free oxygen in the blood stream
  • Reduction of free radical damage (thus anti-aging)
  • Improved immune system function
  • Improved cellular respiration
  • Improved digestive efficiency

External Use

Bentonite powder can also be added to your bath water for a detoxifying and skin softening experience. Simply add a few teaspoons of bentonite powder into the water and mix. The hot water will open the pores and the bentonite is thought to draw out toxins. Have a hot soak for 10 minutes for your first bath, working up to 20 minutes. You may feel tired after your first few baths so have them in the evening.

Bentonite can also be used as a facemask for blackheads, whiteheads, acne, spots and blemishes or as a healing poultice. Mix 1-2 teaspoons with enough water to make a paste and apply to the skin. Leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse with clean warm water and pat the skin dry. Add a couple of drops of tea tree oil for added benefit for clearing spots.

What is Psyllium?

Psyllium is derived from the seed of the Plantago ovata plant (botanical name: Plantago ovata). Psyllium husk is an excellent source of soluble dietary fibre. It is native to Europe, North Africa and Asia and has been used for thousands of years as a safe and effective bulk laxative, intestinal cleanser and for maintaining bowel function, high in both fibre and mucilage. Modern diets lack natural fibre as it is removed during the refining process; a lack of fibre in the diet can lead to many digestive disorders such as constipation and haemorrhoids and is often the underlying cause to many diseases. Psyllium Fibre is beneficial for both constipation and diarrhoea and can assist in maintaining a normal and healthy bowel function.

Psyllium husks are pure dietary fibres that are not digested in the small intestine, but are partially broken down in the colon. They act as a sponge, absorbing water and waste material in the bowels. This helps to clear toxins, preventing them from staying too long in the colon. Generally, the fibre in our diet comes from wheat bran, which can be irritating to the sensitive walls of the bowel. As it is non-abrasive, Psyllium is ideal for sensitive cell walls. Psyllium husks are very safe and are used by millions of people throughout the world as a natural alternative to some habit-forming laxatives.

What is Psyllium used for?

  • Constipation (natural laxative) and diarrhoea
  • Help maintain stable body weight
  • Reduce appetite and assist in weight loss (and recommended in the Atkins diet for constipation)
  • Maintain and lower blood cholesterol levels
  • Maintain stable blood sugar levels
  • Cleanses bowel from toxic substances in purely mechanical way
  • Treat peptic ulcers
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Crohn's disease
  • Colon cleansing
  • Prevention of colon cancer
  • Stabalise blood sugar levels

Interest in Psyllium has grown recently and is often used as an ingredient in high-fibre breakfast cereals. It is also excellent for those with an inadequate fibre intake resulting from modern western fast-food diets or those with a sedentary lifestyle and the elderly.

IBS: The soluble fibre in Psyllium seeds has been found to improve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) by increasing the number of bowel movements per week, enlarging stool weight and speeding up transit times. Soluble fibre does not irritate or scratch the gastric lining compared to other forms of fibre and is therefore suitable for people with IBS or other inflamed digestive disorders.

Weight Loss: Due to its bulking action, Psyllium can also be used as part of a weight loss programme. If taken an hour before meals with plenty of water, it gives a feeling of fullness and therefore reduces appetite.

Constipation: Psyllium husk is a useful remedy for constipation because it can increase bowel movements per day, and decrease total gut transit time. To relieve constipation Psyllium should be taken with plenty of water, the fibre swells with water and increases the peristalsis action of the intestine promoting the flow of bowel matter.

Diarrhoea: Pysllium fibre is an effective stool bulking agent in diarrhoea. Recent research suggests that it may have applications in the treatment of inflammatory bowel conditions that cause diarrhoea. To relieve diarrhoea Psyllium should be taken with very little water, the fibre soaks up the excess fluid in the system. Fibre also helps to cleanse and detoxify heavy metals in the intestine, reducing the strain on the liver.
