Skullcap Liquid Extract Tincture - Scutellaria Iateriflora 100ml

Skullcap is a powerful medicinal herb which has anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, astringent, diuretic, antibacterial and sedative properties. Skullcap relaxes states of nervous tension and has a specific use in the treatment of seizure and hysterical states.

It is used in the treatment of a wide range of nervous conditions including epilepsy, muscle spasms, insomnia, hysteria, anxiety, fibromyalgia, delerium tremens, mild Tourette's syndrome and withdrawal from barbiturates and tranquillisers. It is also used for nervous headaches, neuralgia, headaches arising from incessant coughing and inducing sleep when necessary without any unpleasant symptoms.

Scientific studies have found this herb is also valuable for treating mental disorders such as schizophrenia, ADD and a number of nerve disorders.

It is also known as a female medicinal herb as its a strong emmenagogue and helps the nervous tension and irritability of pre-menstrual tension. Infusions of the plant have traditionally been given to promote menstruation, however it should not be given to pregnant women since it could induce a miscarriage.

It is of value in all exhausted or depressed conditions and also strengthening and stimulating to the digestive system. Skullcap infusions may also be used to treat throat infections. In traditional Chinese medicine, Skullcap is used to treat tumors.

As Skullcap contains sedative properties, it should be used with caution by those taking anti-anxiety medication or medication for seizures, sleep disorders and antihistamines.

100ml 1:3 Alcohol Volume 25%. Take 10 - 15 drops 2 x daily.
