Yarrow tea is an amazing tea that can help with colds and flu, and also help you see in pure colour. The generic name comes from Achilles who, according to legend, saved the lives of his warriors by healing their wounds with yarrow leaves.
One of this astringent herb’s ancient names is ‘Soldier’s Woundwort’, along with ‘Carpenter’s Weed’, ‘Staunchweed’ and others that show its popularity and prolonged use over many centuries.
Yarrow Tea works especially well in combination with Elder, Catnip and Mint. It is tonifying and anti-inflammatory to the skin and mucus membranes of the stomach and bowels; thus, helpful for varicose veins, gastroenteritis, dysentery, and diarrhea.
To use: Place one teaspoon of tea per person into a warmed pot or mug infuser and add hot water. Allow to steep for 5 minutes, or longer if a strong infusion is required, then strain into mugs. A little honey or other natural sweeteners can be added if desired.
